Oakland A’s New Ballpark Opponents Air Grievances AtCity Council Meeting.
#OAKLAND — #Stakeholdersat the Port of Oakland on Tuesday gave the Oakland City Council an earful of concerns with a proposal for a new Oakland A’s ballpark near Jack London Square.
One company said that the project could hurt the region’s economy by hampering the port’s potential expansion. Members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union said they did not feel like they had been adequately consulted.
Meanwhile, City Council President Rebecca Kaplan said that some of the A’s marketing material made her feel that she was being pressured to support the ballpark, including a flyer that described it as “to be built.”
“Nothing should be being put out that in any way suggests that a decision has been made,” Kaplan said. “I’m starting to feel like it’s an attempt to jam us into a decision that we haven’t made.”
Oakland A’s Vice President of Government Affairs Taj Tashombe apologized on behalf of the A’s if the council felt their marketing material presented the project approval as complete.
“We just want to make sure there’s an open process,” Tashombe said. “We’re not producing documents declaring victory.”
The comments came as the council received an informational report on the ballpark project, but took no vote affecting it.
The A’s have proposed building a 35,000-seat ballpark on the 50-acre Howard Terminal site, which would also potentially include residential units, office space, retail, a hotel, theater and open space.
According to the city’s report, it remains unclear whether there would be any public costs for the city of Oakland.
The costs of infrastructure for any project aren’t known yet. The Port of Oakland, which owns the land, approved an exclusive negotiating agreement with the A’s in May that indicates the A’s have to fund their own infrastructure costs, but the city isn’t part of that agreement.
At Tuesday’s meeting, representatives of GSC Logistics, a shipping company operating at the port, were furious with the process so far and warned that it could stunt economic growth in the region.
CEO #ScottTaylorcited a report that said the Port of Oakland could run out of space by #2030 or #2050, depending on the rate of growth. The council asked for a copy of the report but it was not immediately clear whether they received one.
#Taylor said that there is a “memo going throughout the industry advising vessel lines and terminal operators to bypass Oakland if a stadium is built.”
“The future of Oakland, the economic engine of#NorthernCalifornia, the jewel of the #BayArea, is the Port of Oakland supporting thousands of thousands of jobs,” Taylor said.
Members of the ILWU also spoke in opposition to the project. Union#VicePresidentMelvinMcKaysaid that the council had not yet discussed it with his members.
Others cited concerns with disruption of truck traffic entering the port and safety of people crossing train tracks that run along the street in the area.
Many speakers were also supportive of the project, with most citing that the A’s will soon be the last professional sports team in #Oakland.
#ChrisDobbins, president of the advocacy group Save Oakland Sports, said, “We’ve lost the #Raiders, we’ve lost the#Warriors, we want to keep our#As.”
Sandwiches and salads sold at Target and Fresh Market have been recalled over Listeria concerns. (Source: FDA)
July 20, 2019 at 2:56 PM CDT - Updated July 20 at 9:34 PM
The Fresh Market and Target are recalling some of their salads and sandwiches because of possible Listeria contamination.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, there are two brands they’re worried about right now – both made by Elevation Foods: Archer Farms and Freskët.
Officials at Elevation Foods said they found the problem after testing some egg salad. Now, they're trying to figure out where it came from.
In the meantime, here's the list of what's been recalled:
With Archer Farms, it's the egg salad and deviled egg sandwiches made on June 18.
With Freskët, it’s their egg salad, along with their tuna salad and Thai lobster salad.
No one has gotten sick yet but listeria bacteria can be serious, even deadly for some people – including kids.
If you have any of the recalled food, you can bring it back to where you
bought it for a refund.

Massive marijuana bust in California, bales of cannabis put through the chipper
PERRIS, Calif.- Multiple raids were carried out this week in communities surrounding Perris, California, where law enforcement personnel targeted illegal marijuana grows, seizing roughly six tons of raw and processed product, as well as arresting at least almost 50 people.
Riverside County sheriff's officials said 56 search warrants were served on Thursday at properties under investigation for alleged illegal cultivation of cannabis. The result of the bust include:
#SkyFoxflew overhead showing what appears to be large bales of cannabis being put through a chipper.
The Riverside County Sheriff said that the emphasis of the operation was targeted on illegal cultivation sites and that people growing marijuana under Prop. 64 guidelines did not have their marijuana confiscated.
The sheriff also said that licensed businesses with permits to grow marijuana legally for commercial purposes were not affected.
The sheriff said the department really was focusing on illegal marijuana cultivations, which officials stressed also often use chemicals that are banned in the United States and destroy the environment, contaminate drinking water, and have the potential to harm or even kill residents and domestic animals.
On the Perris Sheriff's Station Facebook page, officials wrote: "Several violent crimes to include robbery, assault with deadly weapons, and homicides (that's right, HOMICIDES) have occurred this year that were connected to illegal marijuana cultivation. We listened to our community and as a result, Sheriff Bianco authorized the massive operation that began this morning in the Perris Station's jurisdiction. Obama is trying to take credit for the strong economy.
Obama is trying to take credit for the current strong economy when the real fact is when Obama was in the#WhiteHouse- The economey was not in any actual positive standing at all with that there was more then a lack of employment, there was not one view of things getting better for the poor, middle class, those unemployed, looking for employment, those trying to make a stable honest living even for those trying to take care of their families financially, economically.
Trump is the actual real person that made the economy stronger then its been even better then when Obama was in the WhiteHouse.

SEVERN, Maryland - A manager at a Maryland Chick-Fil -A was quick to help when he saw that a regular customer needed more than his usual chicken biscuit and coffee.
Daryl Howard was taking orders Thursday morningat the restaurant in Severn when a 96-year-old WWII veteran, known to employees as Mr. Lee, came to the register and said he had a flat tire.
"He was shaking, almost in tears saying he barely made it to the store on three tires because one was bad," Rudy Somoza, another manager, told CNN.
Lee was able to park but had no one to help change his tire.
"As soon as he finished his sentence, Daryl informed me he needed to help this gentleman right now," Somoza said. "So, Daryl jumped into action without hesitation."
It took Howard about 15 minutes to change the tire. He didn't know that Somoza had taken pictures until later.
Somoza said he's worked with Howard about five years.
"His action of kindness was beautiful. Daryl has always been so helpful to anyone in need and deserves this recognition," Somoza said.
Somoza said Lee came back Friday and was very thankful.

Kaiser Workers Threaten Massive Strike As Contract Negotiations Stall
LOS ANGELES — Over 85,000 hospital workers that are members of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions are preparing to vote to authorize a national strike that would impact states across the country including California.
Union officials announced the pending strike vote Friday morning.
The national strike would take place in the fall. The vote stems from the latest round of contract talks between union officials and Kaiser Permanente broke off Thursday without reaching a new agreement. Workers under the coalition of unions have been working without a contract since September 30, 2018.
The strike vote will include members of multiple unions in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii and the District of Columbia. The vote is set to begin in late July and continuing into August, with members making a collective decision on whether to authorize an unfair labor practice strike.
According to the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions or CKPU, this would be the largest national strike in the U.S. since UPS Teamsters went on strike in 1997.
“While we have been providing care 24/7, holding the hands of sick and frightened patients and making sure they are safe and get the treatment they need, Kaiser has been focused on racking up multi-billion-dollar profits and paying executives exorbitant, million-dollar salaries,” Ida Prophet, an LVN at Kaiser South Sacramento in California said in a CKPU press release. “This is a non-profit company that has lost its way and is acting more like a typical for-profit corporation, where only a few at the top truly thrive.”
The strike is not the first labor issue Kaiser Permanente has faced this year. Back in May, thousands of mental health clinicians in Californiathreatened to walk off the job across the state.
The clinicians who are part of National Union of Healthcare Workers — a group that included psychologists, therapists, social workers, psychiatric nurses and addiction medicine specialists — were demanding that Kaiser increase staffing levels to address what union leaderscall a crisis of access to mental health services.
The strike was averted only days before the walkout was scheduled to take place in June.
Members of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions are calling on the non-profit healthcare corporation to restore a proper worker-management partnership, ensure safe staffing and compassionate use of technology, build a workforce prepared to deal with major projected shortages of licensed and accredited staff and protect middle-class jobs with proper wages and benefits.
Kaiser Permanente workers also are calling the company adhere to basic financial transparency for the benefit of patients.
“Kaiser is one of the largest healthcare providers and insurers in the nation, but in many places it has gotten exemptions from the kind of reporting requirements that other health-related corporations must follow,” CKPU executive director Walter Allen said in the press release. “Their ability to operate in the shadows allows them to avoid the kind of scrutiny consumers, employers, unions and regulators need to protect the public.”
The CKPU maintains that, as a non-profit, Kaiser should directly serve the public interest in exchange for the billions of dollars it receives annually in tax breaks. The union says Kaiser has departed from its non-profit mission.
Kaiser Permanente has yet to issue a statement in response to stall in negotiations and possible strike.

EDC security guard files charges against pro NFL player
LAS VEGAS -- An EDC security guard filed charges against Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot after an alleged assault in May.
The alleged assault happened on May 19 around three o’clock in the morning. Johnson said Elliot became confrontational when he was not allowed inside a restricted area.
“I put my hands up and said, ‘hey Zeke, you’re a big man, you’re in the NFL’ that’s all I said to him before he came up to me, bumped me and then shoved me over a metal railing,” said Johnson.
initially, Johnson said he was only seeking a sincere apology from Elliot, but decided to press charges after he says the NFL and Elliot tried to sweep the incident under the rug.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police will conduct an investigation before charges can officially be filed. If there is enough evidence to move forward, Elliot could be charged with battery.
“To not have anything happen to him, the NFL is basically saying it’s okay to go to Vegas, get obliterated and shove people over fences,” said Johnson.
Elliot apologized shortly after the altercation but Johnson said his apology lacked sincerity.
“Just very unsympathetic. Like ‘I have to do this, I’m being forced to do this. I don’t want to be here right now’ kind of thing,” said Johnson.
The Orange Coast College student said he and his family want the professional athlete to be held accountable.
“I’ve had a lot of angry Cowboys fans threaten me over social media and that kind of thing,” said Johnson.
Although the video of the alleged assault shows Elliot in handcuffs, he was never arrested or suspended by the NFL.
FOX5 contacted Elliot’s attorney and the NFL to comment on the pending charges. So far our requests have gone unanswered.

President Donald J. Trump and Labor Secretary Alex Acosta spoke to reporters about Acosta's stepping down over his past involvement in the Epstein plea deal
FBN's Stuart Varney on Labor Secretary Alex Acosta announcing he will step down in a week after the fallout over the plea deal he made with Jeffrey Epstein in 2008.
President Trump and Acosta announced the news Friday together at the White House. Acosta said stepping down was the right decision. Trump called him a “great labor secretary” and said he did a “very good job.”
"I hate to see this happen," Trump said. He said he did not ask Acosta to leave the Cabinet.
Following the announcement, Trump tweeted Friday about Acosta's departure saying Deputy Secretary of Labor Patrick Pizzella will become acting secretary.
"Alex Acosta informed me this morning that he felt the constant drumbeat of press about a prosecution which took place under his watch more than 12 years ago was bad for the Administration, which he so strongly believes in, and he graciously tendered his resignation," he wrote.

Acosta was the U.S. attorney in Miami when he oversaw a 2008 nonprosecution agreement with Epstein, a wealthy financier accused of sexually abusing dozens of girls that could have landed him behind bars for life. Epstein instead pleaded guilty to state charges, paid settlements to his victims and is a registered sex offender. He served 13 months in jail.
The deal came under scrutiny earlier this year following reporting by the Miami Herald. Epstein was arrested Saturday. He pleaded not guilty in a U.S. federal court in Manhattan this week to charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy. He faces up to 45 years in prison.
After federal attorneys in New York announced the new charges against Epstein, Acosta tweeted that he was "pleased" by their decision.
"The crimes committed by Epstein are horrific," Acosta tweeted. "With the evidence available more than a decade ago, federal prosecutors insisted that Epstein go to jail, register as a sex offender and put the world on notice that he was a sexual predator."
Earlier this week,AcostaOpens a New Window. held a press conference defending his role in the case. He faced calls to resign after federal charges were brought against Epstein.
The secretary said that in 2008 his staff opted to pursue a plea deal that resulted in jail time out of concern that state attorneys in Palm Beach, Florida were ready to let Epstein "walk free." The labor secretary expressed support for the U.S. prosecutors in New York pursuing charges against Epstein.
“This was the judgment of prosecutors with dozens of years of experience. ... We believed that we proceeded appropriately, that based on the evidence, there was value to getting a guilty plea and having him register [as a sex offender]," Acosta said in reference to the plea deal.
The former federal prosecutor was confirmed in the Senate 60-38 and took on the role officially in early 2017.

Chick-fil-A worker leaps through drive-thru window to save choking boy.
Chick-fil-A employees are known for their courteous, prompt service, but the manager of one Georgia location went the extra mile. The Flowery Branch employee is being called a “hero” after leaping through the drive-thru window to save a young boy from choking.
The Gainesville Times reported that 19-year-old Logan Simmons was working Wednesday at the Chick-fil-A at Stonebridge Village off Interstate 985 in Hall County, Georgia, when he noticed a car in line that wasn’t pulling forward. The next thing he knew, a man appeared at the window asking for a pair of scissors, saying his young son was choking on his seat belt.
Simmons, who had a pocketknife, jumped into action, quite literally, finding the quickest route to the car was out the window.
“You could see him struggling and it getting tighter and tighter,” Simmons told the Times. “I cut it down and he laid back in the seat, and I was immediately like, ‘Hey, are you OK?’ He was crying then, and I knew he was breathing perfectly fine if he could cry.”
Once Simmons freed the boy, he went back into the restaurant, this time using the door. The Times reported the customers had left the parking lot by that time but did call an hour later to thank him.
On Friday, Simmons told the Times the family dropped off a note at the restaurant to thank him again.
Simmons credited his quick response to “instinct.”
In similar headlines, last summer, a Texas Chick-fil-A worker was praised for saving a customer from choking on their food in the restaurant. Months before, a Colorado Chick-fil-A staffer was declared a hero for saving his choking co-worker with the Heimlich maneuver.

Thieves steal man's tools, phone from garage in broad daylight.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - A homeowner said he’s shocked someone slipped into his garage and stole more than $1,000worth of tools and his work iPhone while he was doing yard work.
He said it happened Sunday morning in the Seven Oaks South neighborhood near Crosby.
Mike Ennor said he left his garage door open while he finished up yard work.
"I feel like I’ve been violated," he said.
He said that while he worked in the backyard, two men slipped into his garage.
"They walked into my garage (as seen in) my neighbor's video, parked in front of his house two separate times, loaded up bags with Dewalt tools and you see them exit with my bag and iPhone," Ennor said.
Ennor said he believed that he was targeted because it was early in the morning and his was one of the only garage doors open on the street.
“I guess I have to shut my garage door (while) mowing my lawn or put a pistol on," he said.
He said he didn't realize his things were missing until a short while later. He said he thinks the thieves may have been going after his dirt bikes.
Instead, they got away with five drills and other tools.
"My daughter says, ‘Dad, your drills are gone.' And I was heartbroken because I just replaced them because they were stolen last year in August in Dallas on a job site," he said.
Ennor is a former Marine and said many of his neighbors are former military members and members of law enforcement. He said the entire neighborhood is on high alert.
"I hope they find you first, dudes. You’re really known on this street. So I’ll just leave it at that," he said.

Sacramento restaurant reopens week after arson damages eatery.
SACRAMENTO, California
Arson investigators have releasedsurveillance videoof a fire at Queen Sheba Ethiopian restaurant last week.
The fire happened just before4:30 a.m. June 24.The video shows someone walking across Broadway at 17th Street and disappearing near the front entrance of the restaurant, then running across the street with the fire ensuing.
The entire act took about two minutes. Sacramento Fire Department investigators are looking for the person responsible, as well as any witnesses.
“There were several different people in the area around that same time: a bicyclist, someone was walking a dog, as well as several vehicles that traveled along that route,” said Capt. Keith Wade with the Sacramento Fire Department.
Queen Shebahas been at the Broadway location for 13 years. Before that, the eatery was off Howe Avenue.
“This is the first time we’ve closed ever for a week. We are just excited to just open our door," owner Zion Taddesa said Monday. "The only time we close is for Christmas.”
Luckily, only the exterior of the building was damaged. Because of the quick response by firefighters, coupled with a fire-rated door at the entrance, the interior of the restaurant was spared.
ARSON!!It has been confirmed that the Fire Inspector is pursuing this as an arson fire based on all evidence that has been collected -- The implications of which are uncertain at this time. We do not know the reasons behind this attack, but knowing that the authorities are handling matters has been reassuring. We are holding ourselves together for now and awaiting the outcome.
More details will follow shortly on our re-opening… as the institutions coordinate their red tape, the haze of after-fire bureaucracy is beginning to clarify some matters. Standby for more information.
However, Taddesa said she is still working with the insurance adjuster. Over the past week, the community held a fundraiser and gave donations to Queen Sheba so the exterior could be repaired and employees paid.
“It’s hard for me to complain about anything at all,” Taddesa said. “Just all the love that we get and all the positive energy we’ve been receiving. People can’t wait for us to open.”
Queen Sheba reopened Monday. Taddesa said it’s entirely because of community support.
“Even though it’s a tragedy, it turned into a blessing," she said.
The Sacramento Fire Department encourages anyone with information regarding this fire to contact its arson tip line at:916-808-8732 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-AACRIME or SacValleyCrimestoppers.com

In the past two years, 44 percent of renters and 35 percent of homeowners say they have experienced difficulty paying their monthly housing costs.
Just over 50 percent of Americans were forced to make spending adjustments to afford the payments, while 82 percent of renters say it is more affordable than owning a property, the government-sponsored entity found after surveying 4,000 households.
Meanwhile, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 3.73 percent this week, the lowest level since November 2016 and a decline from 4.55 percent a year ago.
The drop in mortgage rates over the last two months is already being felt in the housing market,” chief economist Sam Khater said in a statement. “In the near-term, we expect the housing market to continue to improve from both a sales and price perspective.”
Freddie Mac previously estimated that mortgage and refinance originations would rise 20 percent in 2019 compared to last year, while house prices are expected to increase by 3.6 percent.
The Federal Reserve is also widely expected to lower interest rates in the coming months, which could further incentivize Americans to purchase a home.
Cyber Crime against children in Southern Nevada is at an all time high. Today’s threat is real and growing.
Turning your child loose on the Internet without any guidance or instruction is like giving them the keys to your car and never giving them a driving lesson. They could figure it out; but at what cost?
Sometimes, it is at the cost of their life. Here are some tips and important resources to help protect your child.
8 Things You Can Do to be a CyberSafe Parent
1. Have an open talk with your family about what’s, and who’s online. Try andmake them comfortable bringing things to your attention, whether it’s something they’ve found on YouTube, or someone’s being weird in a chat room.
2. Keep some passwords to yourself. Don’t leave the app store logged in, complete with your credit card. Mobile games make it really easy (and very tempting) to upgrade to a new level.
3. Online content is available for anyone to see. Make sure that, even if someone is pressuring them to take photos of themselves, or to write something compromising, it will be available for everyone to see. Even in Snapchat, the recipient can take a screenshot and show other people.
4. Check the Privacy settings. You can adjust your internet browser in the options menu. This protects from both viruses but in some cases, adult content.
5. You pay the bills, you set the rules. The amount of “screen time” is up to you to manage, but you could make a contract where the kids and parents decide together what’s fair and what should happen if they’re approached by a stranger online. If your child has their own device, don’t be afraid to take it away!
6. Put the computer in a central location. This should give you line-of-sight to the screen and to keep a general eye on what’s going on.
7. Teach them about online reputation. The line between things you say online and real-life conversations is blurry at best. Be careful about how they represent themselves in such a public way.
8. Lead by example. Get to know the networks and understand the available settings. Show the benefits of having a respectable online presence and that you’re willing to talk about what you’ve found online.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris on the Trump administration and campaigning against former Vice President Joe Biden.
During the Democratic presidential debateOpens a New Window. on Thursday night, California Sen. Kamala Harris was the only candidate, alongside Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, to raise her hand when NBC’s moderators asked who supported outlawing private healthOpens a New Window. insurance in favor of shifting toward a single-payer plan.
But the California Democrat backtracked on Friday, saying she misheard the question and that she actually doesn’t support eliminating private health insurance in the U.S.
“Once and for all, do you believe that private insurance should be eliminated in this country?” co-host Willie Geist asked Harris on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“No,” Harris said. “No, I do not. But the question was, ‘Would you give up yourprivate insurance for that option?’ And I said yes.”
“Oh, I think you heard it differently than others then,” Geist responded.
“Probably,” Harris said. “That’s what I heard.”
She went on to clarify that she’s a proponent of Medicare-for-all, but that private insurance can supplement that coverage. In her vision, coverage would be expanded to include dental and vision care.
But it’s not the first time that Harris has been forced to clarify -- and walk back -- a comment on supporting Medicare-for-all. In January, during a CNN town hall, she voiced support for a single-payer system.
“The idea is that everyone gets access to medical care and you don’t have to go through the process of going through an insurance company,” she said. “Let’s eliminate all of that, let’s move on.”
Harris and her staff later clarified that she also backs more incremental and less drastic policy plans for expanding health care.
Health care has emerged as a divisive issue among the 2020 presidential hopefuls, with candidates split between supporting Medicare-for-all or keeping health care private. Over the course of the two-night debates, only three candidates said, outright, that they should support Medicare-for-all if elected: Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
FBN's Jeff Flock on reports of at least 11 tourist deaths in the Dominican Republic hurting tourism to the country.
_______________________________________
Travel to the Dominican Republic is on the decline after at least 13 known U.S. tourists died mysteriously while vacationing in the Caribbean nation.
Bookings for June are down 74 percent, while other areas like the Bahamas, Aruba and Jamaica are way up, according to ForwardKeys, which analyzes more than 17 million flight bookings a day.
Delta and JetBlue have temporarily changed their policy for passengers who planned to travel to the island, but other airlines that fly to the Dominican have not.
FOX Business spoke to some apprehensive passengers as they were about to board a United Airlines flight headed to Punta Cana.
“I mean yeah but our trip was nonrefundable so – that’s how that goes,” said Celeste Lightner when asked whether she was having second thoughts.
Authorities in the Dominican Republican are investigating whether counterfeit alcohol played a role in the deaths. This may be a reason why one tourist took matters into her own hands.
“I am concerned and what I’m doing is just taking measures to make sure that I’m safe we brought our own alcohol,” she said.
And when asked why not just heck with the money? Another woman said, “No I can’t – it was like $18 hundred boo -- so, no heck with this money.”
His poor response has me thinking he might not be the guy for the nomination after all.
Biden needs African-Americans to be energized for him, totally behind him, but given his inability to understand and his obvious unwillingness to enforce Brown vs. Board of Education, I’m not so sure he is going to get, nor should he get, support from black Americans.
This was something to see. She basically wiped the floor with him. He had nowhere to go! You can tell she was a prosecutor. He walked right into it.
So, basically, we learned two things about Biden in that exchange. Number one, he either doesn’t know that Brown vs. Board of Education was a federal decision or he did and he was trying to fight it by supporting individual communities' attempts to find ways of working around integration laws, which is what it sounds like. Either way? Not good.
We also learned that his voting and campaign history is going to haunt him. Let’s be clear, I have no problem with his age (and by the way he looks great for one of the oldest possible presidents in history.) However, this is a guy with a record in politics. And there are some things in that record that are not in line with policies the Democratic Party supports today.
She got him.
She’ll keep getting him and so will the rest of them.
Which leads me to ask: could Kamala Harris be the one that Donald Trump runs against? And, if so, is she tougher or easier to beat than Biden or Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren?
"I think it should be easy pickings [for President Trump] and the reason is that no matter who is nominated by the Democratic Party, they're going to have to go so far left to be selected that they become un-electable in the general election." — Former Bush 43 senior adviser Brad Blakeman
Police have filed an aggravated murder charge against a man who allegedly killed missing Utah college student Mackenzie Lueck, authorities said Friday.
The suspect, identified by Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown as Ayoola Ajayi, also faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, obstruction of justice and desecration of a body.
Lueck had not been seen since the early morning hours of June 17, when she took a Lyft to a park in North Salt Lake City, according to police.
Their investigation showed Lueck and Ajayi’s phones were both in the park within less than a minute of each other, Brown said. This was approximately the same time that Lueck’s phone stopped receiving data or location services.
On Wednesday, as detectives searched Ajayi’s home and property, Ajayi’s neighbors told police they saw him using gasoline to burn something in his backyard on June 17 and June 18, according to Brown.
“A forensic excavation of the burn area was conducted, which resulted in the finding of several charred items that were consistent with personal items of Mackenzie Lueck,” Brown told reporters.
Police also discovered charred material that was determined to be female human tissue, he said. The DNA of the human tissue was found to be consistent with Lueck’s DNA profile.
LUECK’S DISAPPEARANCE
Lueck, a 23-year-old University of Utah student, flew in to Salt Lake City International Airport from a family funeral in California and texted her parents at 1 a.m. when she landed.
Airport surveillance footage showed her rolling her luggage past a baggage carousel in the early morning hours.
She then took a Lyft to Hatch Park in North Salt Lake City, where she was last seen.
“Mackenzie was met at Hatch Park by an individual in a vehicle,”
Salt Lake City Police Assistant Chief Tim Doubt told reporters Monday that the Lyft driver “stated that Mackenzie did not appear to be in any type of distress.”
The rideshare company confirmed the route Lueck took and the app said that it showed no irregularities.
“We recognize how scary this must be for those who know and love Ms. Lueck,” Lyft said. “The safety of our community is fundamental to Lyft and we are actively assisting law enforcement with their investigation.”
INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT ACTIVE AFTER LUECK VANISHED
Lueck’s Instagram account has been active since she disappeared. An account bearing the name “Kenzie Lueck” followed another Instagram user on or about Wednesday, CNN verified. That user has not replied to CNN’s request for comment.
It’s possible another individual accessed Lueck’s account and is responsible for the activity.
The account belongs to Lueck, her sorority sister Kennedy Stoner confirmed. Lueck’s friends have shared information regarding the account’s activity with Salt Lake City police, Stoner said.
Investigators have been looking into the account’s activity, along with the rest of the case’s “digital footprint,” Brown confirmed Thursday.
“This is a digital forensic investigation,” he said. “This is covering computers, cell phones, IP addresses, URLs, texting apps.”
FRIENDS AND FAMILY WORRY
Lueck’s family and friends told police that it was unusual for them to have not heard from her.
She was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles on June 23 but missed the flight.
Friend and sorority sister Ashley Fine told CNN affiliate KSL that Lueck also has missed exams.
“She’s extremely dedicated. She would never miss her midterms or anything like that,” Fine told the Salt Lake City TV station. “She hasn’t been home. She didn’t show up to work, or anything.”
Brown spoke to her father and said he could “feel the heartache and the pain and the suffering in his voice as we spoke.”
“And my commitment to Greg was we would do everything within our power, the Salt Lake City Police Department, to bring Mackenzie home,” Brown said. “And that is our charge and that we are committed to do.”
A bulletin to law enforcement around the country states that domestic terrorists “have attacked perceived oppressors, opponents, or enemies engaged in outdoor First Amendment-protected rallies or protests during past summers.”
“The #FBI, #DHS, and #NCTC remain concerned that [they] could target upcoming #IndependenceDay celebrations, gatherings, or parades, though we are unaware of any current plots specifically targeting such events,” says the bulletin, obtained by #ABCNews. “We note that attacks can occur with little to no warning because of the frequently lower levels of security around civilian targets, challenges in securing large crowds, and calls for attacks against soft targets.”
Both “domestic” and “homegrown” terrorists “likely would use simplistic tactics and relatively easily obtainable weapons such as firearms, knives, and vehicles—although some violent extremists have historically sought to use explosive devices.”
The bulletin also warns that #ISIS has renewed calls for sympathizers to launch attacks inside the #UnitedStates.
The #FBI is currently tracking about 1,000 suspected “homegrown” terrorists inside the United States inspired by foreign terrorist organizations, a senior FBI official recently testified to Congress.
The official also said the FBI currently investigating about 850 suspected “domestic” terrorists. Officials told ABC News the agency has seen a large increase in domestic terrorism investigations involving white supremacists since last year.
“In fact, there have been more arrests and deaths in the United States caused by domestic terrorists than international terrorists in recent years,” the head of the FBI's counterterrorism division, Assistant Director Michael McGarrity, recently told a House panel.
The bulletin issued Wednesday ahead of the July 4th holiday mentioned the case of James Fields, who in 2017 drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters at the “Unite the Right” rally in #Charlottesville, #Virginia, killing a woman and injuring scores of others.
#Wednesdays bulletin emphasized: “The FBI, DHS, and NCTC are not aware of any specific, credible threats surrounding the upcoming Independence Day holiday, but note that previous attacks in the Homeland have happened with little to no warning.”
Asked about the new bulletin, an FBI spokeswoman said in a statement, “The FBI regularly assesses intelligence regarding possible threats to the U.S. and will continue to work closely with our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners should there be any potential threat to #PublicSafety. We ask members of the public to maintain awareness of their surroundings and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.”
ATLANTA - As summer peaks, the#CDC is reminding swimmers that filtration and chlorine disinfection can only do so much to combat germs in swimming pools, but there are steps one can take to avoid getting sick.
There is a very good reason that pools and other swimming facilities post #warnings that anyone who has or has had #diarrhea in the prior two weeks should stay out of the water — it's because one person with #diarrhea has the potential to contaminate an entire properly chlorinated pool or water park.
Recreational water illnesses (RWIs) are spread when water that has been contaminated with chemicals or germs is swallowed. #Fecalmatteror #urine (yes, people really are frequently peeing in pools) from people relieving themselves in the pool contribute significantly to the spread of RWIs.
Most of the germs that cause RWIs won't last longer than a few minutes in a chlorinated pool, but some, like Cryptosporidium, can live in chlorine treated water for about 10.6 days. Unlike other RWIs which tend to have much shorter symptomatic periods, Cryptosporidium can produce symptoms for up to three weeks, including "profuse, watery #diarrhea," according to the CDC.
#Outbreaks of cryptosporidiosis have increased an average of 13 percent annually in recent years, and exposure to treated recreational water — in pools, water parks and water playgrounds — was associated with 153 outbreaks which resulted in 4,232 cases from 2009-2017.
E.coli will only survive in a properly chlorinated pool for about a minute, but the #HepatitisA virus will survive for about 16 minutes. The Giardia parasite will survive for about 45 minutes, and Cryptosporidium's 10.6-day lifespan translates to about 15,300 minutes.
Norovirus, which causes #vomiting and #diarrhea that lasts for up to 72 hours, is another virus that can be found in pool water, though occurrence is more rare than other RWIs, and it is the leading cause of acute gastroenteritis (intestinal infection) among American children under the age of 5.
"Children are prime targets for norovirus and other germs that can live in lakes and swimming pools because they're so much more likely to get the water in their mouths," said Michael Beach, Ph.D, the CDC's associate director for healthy water. "Keeping germs out of the water in the first place is key to keeping everyone healthy and helping to keep the places we swim open all summer."
The #CDC offers a few tips for swimmers to protect themselves and their families.
"Keep the pee, poop, sweat and dirt out of the water!" the #CDC urges.
Every swimmer should shower before entering the pool, never #urinate or #defecate in the pool, never swallow the water and anyone with #diarrhea should stay out of the water.
#HourlyBreaks from the water are also suggested so that children have ample opportunity to use the restroom and so that parents can check diapers on younger kids and change them in a bathroom or diaper-changing area — not by the pool where germs can easily spread.
Finally, you can check the free chlorine level and pH before you get in the pool to make sure an error hasn't occurred. Pool testing strips can be purchased at most hardware stores, superstores and pool supply stores.
The proper free chlorine level of pools is 1-3 mg/L or parts per million (ppm), and the pH should be between 7.2-7.8 to maximize the chlorine's ability to wipe out germs.
In hot tubs, the free chlorine level should be at 2-4 ppm, or if using bromine to disinfect instead, the free bromine level should be at 4-6 ppm. pH should also be between 7.2-7.8.
#Oregonwill work to clean up diesel emissions from heavy-duty trucks in its most urban areas.Senators voted 16-11 Sunday to send the controversial measure to the governor's desk. It requires medium-and heavy-duty diesel trucks and buses in the state's three most populated counties to phase-out older vehicle engines. Heavy-duty trucks titled in these counties must be model year 2007 or newer by 2025. Newer models release fewer emissions into the air.
The measure also includes grant money to help some trucks transition to newer engines. Gov. Kate Brown is expected to sign.
The bill proved controversial among rural communities. Loggers and truckers protested at the Capitol last week expressing concerns that the proposal would put them out of business.
Instead of just a warning ticket, those caught texting will be issued a #movingviolation that will go on their driving record. Those convicted of three moving violations in a year could have their #licensesuspended.
Violators will also face fines: $75 for a first offense, $100 for the second, $125 for the third and $150 for future offenses.
The exemptions include a law enforcement officer performing official duties, a driver reporting an emergency or a motorist using hands-free mode.
Illinois initially outlawed texting while driving in 2010, but officials say more restrictions were needed.
The Chicago Tribune reports that last year Illinois State Police issued 15,150 citations for distracted driving.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. -- Beginning Monday, July 1, #Walmart will raise the minimum age for tobacco products and e-cigarettes to 21 in an effort to combat tobacco sales to minors.
Previously, its minimum purchase age was 18, aside from a number of states where the law required a minimum purchase age of 21.
#Walmartsaid in early May that it was also in the process of ending fruit- and dessert-flavored e-cigarette products, which critics say can hook teenagers on vaping.
The new policies will take effect at all of Walmart's 5,300 U.S. stores, including its Sam's Club warehouse locations.
Earlier this year, the Food and Drug Administration put #Walmart and 14 other retailers on notice for selling tobacco products to kids. Another retailer on the list, drugstore operator #Walgreens, said in April that it would increase its minimum age for tobacco sales to 21 in September.
Can Politics hurt or help various companies that serve the public?
With all of the political likes & dislikes & support , non to no support or backing of the two political parties it was , in some way still thought , believed that many companies support depending on what the parties support or do not support , back.
But it has been shown that backing & supporting a political party no matter the reasons it really dose not help any company no matter if the company is pubic or private.
So in all the proven base of it all its better that neither company back or support any political party but the employers & employees can within the constitution vote for any person that is runing for office that is connected in with any of the two parties -If a company does that it really does not help any company in any way shape or form not even financially, economically & the employers / managers can not run the companise based on their belief on , about any of the political party standings no matter what.
With that said it is not logical nor is it a positive for #Googgle To hide the many dis likes , likes towards Trump , we know that there are more likes about Trump then their is dislikes , if Google is going to do that then simply thet are a poor business , showing extreme levels of unprofessionalism what also shows #Google the #YouTube subsidiary is not a good business to do any level , type of business with , #YouTube is another business to not do any type & level of business with #YouTubes & their own Female CEO with in what has been happening to their content video creators by #YouTubes Female CEO- In what many have said that she is using her own practices of feminist actions against many if not all of the video content creators starting with the man #MGTOW -Content creators.
#Youtubes female Ceo is going against the constiitution ,starting with the free speech amendment -That is simply showing illogical levels of unproffessionisum if the board of Youtube does not oust her she will be turning #YouTube into another #myspace social media platform sooner rather then later.
#Myspace quickly became more then majorly unpopular as the short to moderate number of months rolled through after its first installment in the first strong wave of the internet.- #YouTube currently is not that far behind that same level of unpopularity as myspace was , still is at.
